About me
I'm Blaise, I play guitar and sing for Screams in Space. I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now, and have been singing for about 2 and a half now. I think I realized I wanted to create music a long time ago. As a kid, I had all these little projects of mine where I would write songs on my phone, none of them were very good...at all. I noticed I always connected, or was more astonished with music than the average person. I think I just wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to make something that would make people cry the same way I used to cry to "The Thrash Particle" by Modern Baseball (I might still be crying to it). I did band in middle school and high school, playing trumpet. I thought I was killing it, and then in the jazz band I played bass guitar. I was having a fun time, until I reached a rough point in my life where I left band and just stopped playing music for a while. It was a rough patch for sure, but I'm glad I came back around.
I remember shortly after "The Cracks" came out, one of myself and Gray's friends texted me and said "Blaise, what the hell?" and I said "What?" and she just sent me a picture of a wet spot on her pillow saying, "I just bawled my eyes out to your song." Of course I asked which one, and she told me it was The Cracks. I think that was when, it clicked for me like "Oh, damn people are doing the same thing I did." That was a crazy high that nothing else can beat. I want to keep doing just that.
Overall, I'm glad that me and Gray started this silly two piece band from Indiana. I mean sure, we've had our ups and downs, like any small-time DIY band does, but I don't think that I could have asked for a better person to do this with. Whether it's stuff like, "Oh hey a viola would go sick here" or even if it's just "Hey, I have this idea for a song, do you wanna try it out?" it's always been a good time.
